In accordance with the policy approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact information a domain is registered with must be correct and up to date at all times. At the same time, this info is openly visible on WHOIS websites and while this may be okay for corporations, it may not be very convenient for individuals, because everyone can see their names and their personal email and street addresses, especially in times when identity fraud isn’t that infrequent. This is why domain name registrars have introduced a service that hides the details of their clients without editing them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. In case it’s active, people will see the details of the domain registrar, not the domain owner’s, if they do a WHOIS lookup. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic domain name extensions, but it’s still not possible to hide your private details with some country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you have ordered a cloud hosting from us and you’ve registered one or more domains under your account, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without difficulty and to keep your personal data secure. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” button on the right-hand side of each of your domain names. Its color will inform you if a domain name is protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with just a few clicks of the mouse. Thus, you can secure your private data even if you haven’t activated the Whois Privacy Protection service during the registration process. You will be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you choose to order a semi-dedicated server plan from us, you will be able to add Whois Privacy Protection to any of your domains by completing several easy steps. If you order a registration or a transfer during the account order process, you can get the service together with the domain. If you omit this step and you change your mind afterwards, you can activate the Whois Privacy Protection service from the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you can manage the entire semi-dedicated account. This is also the place where you can enable Whois Privacy Protection for all other domains that you register with us after the signup process. Renewing or disabling the Whois Privacy Protection service is just as simple and will require only several clicks.
